Lucky's Story

Lucky's beginning wasn't easy. He was born as a stray kitten in the city of Yonkers. Fortunately, about three months later, a couple had heard his meows. That couple happened to be my sister, Danielle and her husband (boyfriend at the time) Joey. They were walking out of his grandmother's house to Danielle's car when they heard a kitten's cries. They searched their surroundings, finally spotting the kitten hiding in Joey's grandmother's shed. Before the kitten could run, Joey threw his jacket onto him and they drove him to my mother's house, phoning local shelters on the way there. The many shelters they contacted were unable to take in more cats.
However, my husband Andre (boyfriend at the time) stepped in and adopted this kitten. All four of them nursed him back to health and got him into tip-top shape (I was in Florida with my father at the time but could not wait to meet this adorable kitten that was now part of the family!). I was back from my trip in time to take him to his first veterinary appointment. All of us initially thought he was a girl, and we were funnily surprised when the vet told us that he is a boy!

And he sure showed us how boyish he really is - running rampant around the house, always playing with his toys (whether it be by himself or with us), playing peek-a-boo or jumping out from behind a doorway to startle us (what a little prankster), and not being the biggest cuddlebug (but he has his moments where he loves pats and cuddles). He is a Maine Coon and Norwegian Forest Cat mixed with class and sass. He is crazy for shrimp, and meows excitedly at the mere mention, sight, or smell of it. He has several types of meows (when he's happy, annoyed, hungry, or talkative overall). He makes us laugh and we love him very much.

Just this past July, he turned six. We can't believe how much he has grown. It was one of the best decisions of our lives to adopt Lucky.
There are so many cats out there that need homes. Consider adopting a cat - we promise you, it's so worth it!
*Please research and learn more about cats before adopting, since there is always a lot of responsibility with having any type of pet.
